I use a soft brush and just sweep the dirt off the table itself. I would not try to wash them. If you are not a type of waterproofing spray before they are dirty and treated, they are probably the identification, if the dirt is removed, however.
I have a shoebox full of spray cleaner (I think it is petroleum based) I use. I take outside and spray the suede and then use the lid with a plastic brush to Raulederbürste.
I bought shoes that shine in a workshop that all repairs and Birkenstock shoes (many of his shoes made of suede type).
Clean as soon as you notice it is dirty.
